Personality Screen, Part C

Screening for mental health is just as important as screening for other physical health issues!  Most of us go for a physical checkup once a year, but don't think twice about a mental health checkup.  Sometimes symptoms can sneak up on us gradually over time and we don't notice them until they start causing us problems.  Other times, symptoms come on rapidly and we are overwhelmed how to handle them.  We offer several mental health screens on this website to offer you a quick way to assess how you are doing in several key areas.  This is not a substitute for a full mental health assessment nor is it intended to replace mental health or medical care.  Only an independently licensed mental health or medical professional can provide a mental health diagnosis and treatment.  However, knowledge is power and these screening tools can help you become more aware of potential symptoms and alert you to seek help.

PERSONALITY SCREEN, PART C:  Please review the following statements and see if any are true for you:

  • I'm often afraid that others will criticize or reject me

  • I try not to get involved with others unless I am certain that they will like me

  • I don't think others would like me if they knew the real me

  • I often feel inadequate

  • I try to avoid any situation that could possibly be embarrassing

  • I tend to take jobs that are below my skill level

  • I have trouble making decisions by myself

  • I rely on others to make important decisions for me

  • I don't tend to make waves because I don't want to lose the support of others

  • I don't have a lot of self-confidence

  • I typically volunteer to do the unpleasant jobs to keep the peace at home and/or at work

  • I don't think I could take care of myself on my own

  • I'm afraid of being alone

  • I tend to quickly enter a relationship when one ends

  • I am too focused on order and perfection

  • My desire to do things just right often interferes with my productivity

  • I prefer to work independently because others don't perform to my standards

  • I often get stuck in the details instead of seeing the larger picture

  • Others think I can be rigid and stubborn

  • I have a hard time throwing things away, even if they are old and worn out

  • I can be so focused on one area of my life to the exclusion of other areas in my life

  • I don't like to delegate tasks to others unless they do things my way

  • I consider myself a perfectionist, which can be really hard sometimes
