Rates and Insurance

Therapy is an investment, no two ways about it.  It is also probably one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your loved ones.  Your mental health and emotional wellbeing are paramount to being able to live a full, meaningful life.  When you take care of your psychological and emotional needs, you invest in your present and future happiness.  You are worth it.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

$150 | Initial Evaluations | 50-55 minutes
$125 | Individual Sessions | 50-55 minutes
$175 | Couples and Family Sessions | 65-70 minutes
$25 | Group Sessions | 50-55 minutes

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

FOR MEDICALLY NECESSARY TREATMENT:

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield.  If you carry insurance through another provider, we will happily provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

FOR PERSONAL GROWTH AND COACHING SERVICES AND PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE NOT TO USE THEIR  INSURANCE BENEFITS:

We accept cash, check, major credit cards, and flexible spending accounts.  Payments are due prior to the start of each session and can be made through our client portal for your ease and convenience.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES TO USING INSURANCE?

Having insurance and being able to utilize benefits can be a real lifesaver for many people.  However, there are drawbacks and limitations as well.  In the spirit of full disclosure, we have outlined some of the advantages and disadvantages:

ADVANTAGES:

  • It can be more affordable to just pay the copay instead of the full service fee

  • You may be able to enjoy more sessions if affordability is a concern for you.

DISADVANTAGES:

  • Your insurance will determine the parameters of treatment, instead of you and your therapist.  This could affect the number of sessions, frequency of meetings, and types of treatment they approve for you.

  • You cannot utilize insurance benefits for couples counseling, family therapy, other relationship issues, or personal growth.  Insurance will only pay for the medically necessary treatment of a mental disorder that impacts functioning.

  • Your diagnosis will become a pre-existing condition on your record.

  • Your record is not completely private or confidential.

  • If your health insurance carrier denies a claim, you will still be responsible for the full payment.  This can interrupt therapy if you are not prepared for it.

  • Depending on your plan, you may also need to pay a very high deductible before your insurance will even begin making payments on claims.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • You may be able to use pre-tax dollars by using your Health Savings or Flexible Spending Accounts.  Please check eligibility directly with your plan.

  • You may be able to submit receipts to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.  While this wouldn't help with confidentiality or your medical record, it does allow you more control of your treatment as opposed to using in-network benefits.

DO YOU OFFER MORE AFFORDABLE OPTIONS?

I guess that term is all relative!  Spending three months in couples therapy vs. three years battling it out in divorce court?  Counseling could save you thousands PLUS your marriage.

Therapy is an investment of time, money, and energy that can pay dividends in the future.  However, I know that not everyone has the financial resources to participate in weekly individual therapy.  We can offer you the following great alternative options:

  • Group counseling.  This option is an amazing alternative that allows people to engage in high-quality therapy for longer periods of time, which ultimately provides more support over the long haul.  We do not accept insurance for this option, but the cost is minimal at just $25 per group.  Payments are due monthly.  All that is required is a one-time initial assessment to ensure that group therapy is appropriate for you.

  • Group counseling plus 1-2 individual sessions per month.  This is a great option because you benefit from both worlds, yet is more affordable than weekly individual counseling.

  • Referral to a local community mental health center for more affordable individual counseling options

DO YOU OFFER PRO BONO OR SLIDING SCALE OPTIONS?

We do not offer sliding scale options because our group therapy option is a better alternative!

We do offer pro bono services to local nonprofits who could benefit from specialized mental health, coaching, and/or leadership development services.  If you are a nonprofit in need, please contact us!

IN WHAT OTHER WAYS DO YOU SUPPORT PEOPLE IN NEED?

It is our mission to support the mental and emotional health needs of women.  We are proud to support the Malala Fund in providing educational opportunities for girls around the globe.  We do this by donating a portion of our profits for each and every service we provide to our clients.  You can feel good knowing that as you take steps to strengthen yourself, you are also taking steps to strengthen women in developing countries.
